Airborne LiDAR use in peatland restoration webinar

The North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is the second largest of the 46 AONBs in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, containing approximately 900 km2 of peatland which has historically been drained and degraded. Restoration planning typically involves surveying large areas of peatland on foot, but this approach is not always practical or time efficient given the scale of the problem. An alternative method to map peatland features is to use airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data.
